Connectivity and expansion

Three USB 3.1 ports, one USB-C port, HDMI and RJ-45 Ethernet cover wired and video links. Intel dual-band wireless and Bluetooth 4.1 handle wireless duties. An SD/MicroSD slot and fingerprint reader may be present depending on the exact unit received.

Best for mobile office work

Questions about this item

When does the 1.8 GHz quad-core i7-8550U throttle under sustained load?

The processor will reduce its clock speed once thermal limits are reached, which varies with workload and the cooling capacity of the specific T480 or T490 chassis.

How loud and hot does the fan get during all-day use?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 45 W or 65 W adapter produce modest heat; fan noise stays low for office tasks but rises under continuous heavy compute loads.

Which dock or port replicator do I need for triple-monitor output?

This unit provides one HDMI and one USB-C 3.1 port; a USB-C dock with DisplayPort alt-mode is required to drive two additional external displays.
