ThinkPad T490 with i7-8565U and 24GB DDR4

This laptop pairs an Intel Core i7-8565U processor with 24GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The quad-core CPU reaches 4.60 GHz turbo frequency for responsive multitasking. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

512GB NVMe SSD and 24GB RAM capacity

The PCIe NVMe solid-state drive provides fast boot and application load times for office suites and web workflows. 24GB of DDR4 memory supports dozens of browser tabs and simultaneous business applications. Intel UHD 620 graphics run out of headroom for modern 3D titles or GPU-accelerated rendering workloads.

Upgrade from 8GB or 16GB configurations

Moving from a standard 8GB or 16GB system eliminates memory swapping during heavy multitasking. The jump is worth it when you regularly run virtual machines, large spreadsheets, or multiple development environments. Buyers who need discrete graphics for CAD or video editing should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Can I connect my older USB 3.0 external drive to the 2 USB 3.1 Gen1 ports on this T490?

Yes, the two USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports are fully backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices, so your existing drive will work at its rated speed.

How can I verify the 24GB DDR4 memory and 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD are detected after first boot?

Open Task Manager > Performance and confirm 24 GB appears under Memory and the 512 GB NVMe drive is listed under Disk with the correct capacity.

Does the box include the 65W power adapter and are there any essential accessories I must buy separately?

The 65W power supply is included; no mandatory accessories are required, though you may want a USB-C hub or external monitor cable depending on your setup.
