ThinkPad T490 i7 business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490 i7 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7 8th Gen processor with four cores running at 1.80 GHz and a 4.60 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Suits mobile professionals.

This configuration suits professionals who need a light 14.0 inch chassis with a quad-core processor, 16GB RAM and fast NVMe storage for office applications, video calls and secure login via fingerprint reader. Buyers who require discrete graphics performance for rendering, CAD or gaming should look at a different system. The integrated graphics and 50WHr battery also limit extended unplugged heavy compute sessions.

Quad-core i7-8565U with 8MB Smart Cache

The single specification that decides fit is the Intel Core i7-8565U processor: four cores, 8MB Smart Cache and a 4.60 GHz maximum turbo frequency. This CPU determines the laptop's multi-threaded throughput and thermal envelope. If your workload demands higher sustained clock speeds or more cores, this processor will be the limiting factor.
