Compatible iPad models

The Logitech 920-009608 Combo Touch is a backlit keyboard case designed for the iPad 7th generation (2019) and iPad 8th generation (2020). It attaches via the Smart Connector and includes a built-in trackpad. The detachable keyboard lets the case switch between Type, View, Sketch and Read modes. It is aimed at students and mobile professionals who want laptop-style input with front and back protection.

Viewing angles and power

The kickstand supports continuous adjustment from 20 to 60 degrees for typing or media viewing. Power is drawn directly from the iPad through the Smart Connector so the keyboard requires no separate charging. The case leaves the Lightning port and cameras accessible while shielding both sides of the tablet. There is a dedicated channel to stow an Apple Pencil 1st generation.

Backlight and shortcut row

Five levels of adjustable backlighting let you match key brightness to ambient light. The full row of iOS shortcut keys puts Home, brightness, media controls, volume, search and screen lock at your fingertips. Keys use an 18 mm pitch with 1 mm travel for a familiar typing feel. The package adds a protective case, integrated trackpad and pencil storage in one unit.

Questions about this item

How does the keyboard attach to the iPad and what step is often missed?

It connects through the Smart Connector on the iPad edge; the detachable keyboard must click firmly into the case hinge before the connector makes contact.

What part of the Combo Touch will need replacement first with daily use?

The fabric hinge and detachable keyboard mechanism endure repeated folding; the 1 mm key travel switches are rated for millions of presses but the hinge fabric tends to fray before the keys fail.

At what point does the backlight become a limitation during long sessions?

Five brightness levels draw power directly from the iPad via the Smart Connector; at maximum brightness the iPad battery drains noticeably faster, so extended work usually requires lowering the backlight.
