What this adapter does

The LUOM LD140W is a straight USB-C magnetic gender changer that turns a fixed port into a quick-release connection. It supports USB4 and Thunderbolt 3 or 4, carries up to 140 W of Power Delivery charging, moves data at 40 Gbps and passes 8K video at 60 Hz. The pack contains two black adapters and two cord straps for cable management.

Thermals noise and power

No active cooling is present, so the adapter runs silently and adds no fan noise to the system. Power draw follows the attached device up to the 140 W PD limit, with the supplier noting a 240 W maximum transmission capability and automatic parameter adjustment. Gold-plated 24-pin contacts keep resistance low during normal charging and data use.

Behaviour under sustained load

The magnetic latch holds the link firmly during long transfers or extended 8K output sessions, preventing the wear caused by repeated plug cycles. LED indicators show a soft white light while power flows, confirming the connection remains stable. Performance stays consistent as long as the host, cable and charger each support the required USB4 or Thunderbolt bandwidth and power profiles.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the magnetic USB-C adapter and what step do people often miss?

Align the 24-pin gold-plated male connector with your device's USB-C port; the strong magnets pull it straight in. The step many miss is ensuring the connector seats fully flush so all 24 pins make contact for 140 W charging and 40 Gbps data.

What maintenance or replacement will the LUOM LD140W magnetic adapter need over time?

The magnetic interface is designed to eliminate physical wear from repeated plugging, so no routine maintenance is required. Replace the adapter only if the magnets weaken, the gold-plated pins are damaged, or the LED charge indicator stops lighting.

What limit appears first during sustained high-load use of this 140 W magnetic adapter?

The 140 W power-delivery ceiling (28 V / 5 A) is the first hard limit; the adapter will not draw more even if the host and cable support 240 W. Thermal throttling in the host or cable typically follows before the adapter itself becomes the bottleneck.
