What it is

The LUOM LD140W is a two-pack of USB4 magnetic adapters with a male-to-female right-angle design. Each unit delivers up to 140W power delivery, 20Gbps data transfer and 8K 60Hz video output. They suit laptop users who want a breakaway connection that protects ports from accidental cable pulls.

Thermals noise and power

The adapter carries a 24-pin gold-plated connector rated for 140W charging at 28V/5A and can handle up to 240W maximum power transmission. It automatically adjusts output to match the connected device. No active cooling or fan is present, so operation is silent and adds negligible heat to the host system.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous 140W charging and 20Gbps data flow the gold-plated contacts maintain stable signal integrity for 8K 60Hz video. The magnetic hold stays secure during prolonged sessions while still releasing cleanly if the cable is tugged. Performance does not degrade over time because there are no moving parts or thermal throttling mechanisms.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the magnetic adapter to my USB-C port without blocking the adjacent port?

The slim, right-angle connector snaps on with its ultra-strong magnetic force and sits flush so the neighbouring port stays free.

Will the 24-pin gold-plated contacts need cleaning or replacement over time?

Gold plating resists oxidation; occasional dry brushing keeps the 24 pins reliable for 140 W charging and 20 Gbps data.

At what point does sustained 140 W charging hit a thermal limit?

The adapter handles up to 240 W peak, so 140 W continuous operation stays within its design margin.
