What it is and who it's for

The LUOM LD140W is a USB4 magnetic adapter that connects a USB-C male plug to a female port. It suits laptop users who want a quick-release connection to protect their device port from daily wear while keeping full USB4 performance.

Capacity and headroom

Rated for 140 W power delivery, the adapter automatically negotiates the correct output for the attached device and can handle up to 240 W maximum transmission. Data moves at 40 Gbps, and video reaches 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz when paired with a USB4 cable.

USB4 interface limits

The adapter complies with the USB 4.0 standard, so its 40 Gbps ceiling and 8K60 video capability are bound by that specification. Performance will drop if the host, cable or peripheral only support earlier USB versions, and thunderbolt-certified features are not guaranteed.

Questions about this item

Will the LD140W magnetic adapter work with my existing USB 3.2 Gen 2 cables and still deliver 40Gbps speeds?

The adapter complies with USB 4.0 so it will connect to older USB-C cables, but 40Gbps throughput requires a certified USB4 cable on both sides.

How can I verify the adapter is actually passing 8K video at 60Hz after I plug it in?

Check your display settings — if the external monitor reports 8K resolution at 60Hz refresh rate, the video path is operating at the adapter's rated capability.

The box lists two adapters and two cord straps — do I need to buy a separate USB4 cable to reach 40Gbps and 8K60Hz?

Yes, the package contains only the magnetic adapters and straps; a USB4-certified cable must be purchased separately to achieve the full 40Gbps data and 8K@60Hz video specifications.
