Outdoor WiFi 7 access point

The Ubiquiti Networks U7-Outdoor is a dual-radio wireless access point built for exterior deployment. It supports WiFi 7 and legacy 802.11 standards across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with 4 spatial streams. The IPX6-rated enclosure operates from -30 to 60 °C and handles 5 to 95 % non-condensing humidity. It is suited for campuses, yards and outdoor venues needing long-range coverage.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous traffic the AP delivers up to 1.7 Gbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz using MU-MIMO. The integrated directional super antenna covers 465 m² open space while the included omni antennas cover 160 m². A single 2.5 GbE RJ45 uplink feeds the radios. Max power draw is 19 W via PoE+ at 42.5—57 V DC, supporting 250+ concurrent users without thermal throttling.

Installation and common issues

The unit weighs 1.2 kg and measures 170 x 208 x 54.5 mm without the mount, extending to 121.8 mm with it. Wall and pole hardware is included for versatile positioning. Software-adjustable beamwidth lets installers tune coverage after mounting. Buyers needing 6 GHz radios, 300+ device capacity or IP67 ingress protection should consider the U7 Pro Outdoor model instead.

Questions about this item

How much heat and power does the U7-Outdoor draw when running 24/7?

Max power consumption is 19 W via PoE+ (42.5–57 V DC). It operates from -30 to 60 °C with no fan, so heat is dissipated passively through the weatherproof IPX6 enclosure.

What existing network gear is required to power and manage this access point?

A UniFi PoE+ switch or injector supplying 42.5–57 V DC, plus a UniFi Network controller (Cloud Key, Dream Machine, or self-hosted) for adoption and configuration.

Will the 2.5 GbE uplink bottleneck my older 1 GbE switches and cabling?

The single RJ45 port auto-negotiates at 1 GbE or 2.5 GbE, so it works with existing Cat5e/6 runs and 1 GbE switches without any configuration change.
