ASUS Vivobook 15 F512DA

This 15.6 inch laptop combines a quad-core AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor with 40GB DDR4 memory and a 2TB SATA SSD. It targets home and business users who need ample storage and multitasking headroom in a standard clamshell chassis. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

The processor runs at a 2.3GHz base frequency and can reach 4GHz turbo for short bursts. Integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 graphics share system memory, so extended heavy loads will be limited by the 45W power supply and 37 WHr battery capacity. Thermal throttling appears during prolonged multi-core tasks.

Thermals noise and power

A 45W adapter charges the 2-cell 37 WHr battery while the system idles quietly thanks to the integrated graphics design. Fan noise becomes noticeable only when the CPU maintains higher clocks. The 3.85 lb slate-gray chassis stays warm but not hot under typical office workloads.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 45W supply and 37 WHr battery draw when the Ryzen 7 3700U runs at 4GHz all day?

The 45W power supply and 37 WHr battery support the Ryzen 7 3700U up to 4GHz, but sustained load will reduce battery runtime.

Which DDR4 SODIMM modules are already installed to reach 40GB?

The laptop ships with 40GB of DDR4 SODIMM memory installed, so no additional modules are required for operation.

Will the HDMI port drive a 1920x1080 external monitor alongside the built-in 15.6" display?

Yes, the HDMI output can drive a 1920x1080 external monitor while the internal 15.6" Full HD panel remains active.
