ASUS Vivobook 15 F512DA-IS79 laptop

The ASUS Vivobook 15 F512DA-IS79 is a 15.6 inch Full HD laptop powered by a Ryzen 7 3700U processor with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB SATA SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and includes a fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard and 720p webcam. This configuration suits office work, study and everyday multitasking.

Upgrading from an older hard-drive laptop

Moving from a mechanical drive to the 512GB SATA SSD cuts boot and application load times dramatically. The quad-core Ryzen 7 3700U with Radeon Vega 10 graphics handles typical productivity and light creative tasks better than dual-core predecessors. Buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics for gaming should consider other models.

Straightforward setup with standard ports

Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed so the laptop is ready after the initial out-of-box experience. Connectivity covers USB 3.1 Gen1, USB 3.1 Type-C Gen1, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and a micro SD reader. The 37 WHr battery and 45W adapter provide limited runtime away from a socket.
