Product identity

The ASUS Vivobook 15 F512DA is a 15.6 inch Windows 10 Pro laptop powered by a Ryzen 7 3700U quad-core processor with Radeon RX Vega 10 integrated graphics. It ships with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 2TB SATA SSD in a slate-gray chassis.

Who it suits

This configuration suits office workers and students who need a full HD non-touch display, fingerprint login, a backlit keyboard and a generous 2TB SATA solid-state drive for local files. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen panel or a larger battery capacity should look at alternative models.

Deciding specification

The 2TB SATA SSD is the single specification that determines fit: it provides high-capacity storage on the SATA interface, so anyone whose device only accepts a different drive protocol will need another solution.

Questions about this item

How does the Ryzen 7 3700U 2.3 GHz quad-core processor perform in everyday multitasking?

The 2.3 GHz base clock with 4 GHz boost and four cores handles office apps, web browsing and media playback smoothly, while the 16 GB DDR4 memory keeps multiple windows responsive.

What does the USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C port actually deliver for external storage?

The USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C port runs at 5 Gbps, so external SATA SSDs will hit that ceiling while the internal 2 TB SATA SSD provides consistent read and write speeds.

Will this 15.6 inch chassis fit in a standard laptop sleeve or backpack compartment?

The Slate Gray body measures 14 inches wide and weighs 3.85 lb, so it fits most 15.6 inch sleeves and backpack compartments designed for standard laptops.
