Rugged 14-inch touchscreen laptop

The DELL Latitude 5424 is a military-grade notebook built for harsh environments. Its 14.0-inch FHD display reaches brightness levels suitable for direct sunlight viewing. The 10-point touchscreen operates with protective gloves on. An Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 6MB cache and speeds up to 3.60 GHz powers the system.

32 GB DDR4 memory and dual SSD storage

The configuration ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory alongside a 256 GB M.2 drive and a 2 TB M.2 drive. This dual SSD arrangement separates the operating system from large data sets. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed. A Dell OEM charger is included in the box.

Integrated graphics and extensive field connectivity

Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output through HDMI and DisplayPort. Three USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, a serial port and RJ-45 Ethernet provide wired flexibility. Wireless options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, optional 4G LTE and dedicated GPS. Hot-swappable battery packs support full-shift operation away from power outlets.

Questions about this item

How do I replace the 256 GB M.2 and 2 TB M.2 solid-state drives when they reach end of life?

Both drives use standard M.2 form factor slots; remove the bottom cover, unplug the existing modules and insert compatible M.2 replacements, then reinstall the operating system.

Which component hits its thermal ceiling first during continuous heavy workloads on the Intel Core i5-8350U?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares the processor thermal budget, so sustained GPU-plus-CPU load will throttle the quad-core chip before the memory or storage limits appear.

What fan noise and surface temperatures should I expect when the 14.0-inch touchscreen laptop runs all day on Windows 10 Pro?

The rugged chassis uses active cooling; under full load the fan spins audibly and the keyboard deck warms noticeably, while idle or light use stays quiet and near ambient temperature.
