Business laptop for daily workloads

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch laptop with a 1.90GHz Intel Core i7 8th Gen processor, 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. It runs Windows 10 Pro on a 1366 x 768 non-touch display driven by Intel HD Graphics 620. A backlit keyboard and Bluetooth are included. The unit is new and finished in black.

Replaces slower dual-core or HDD systems

Moving from a mechanical drive to the 1TB SSD cuts boot and application load times dramatically. The 16GB memory capacity removes the bottleneck found on 8GB configurations when juggling browser tabs, office suites and video calls. The jump is worth it when your current machine stalls on multitasking or cold starts.

Fits mobile offices and docked desks

Two memory slots allow future expansion without replacing existing modules. The 14.0-inch footprint slips into standard bags and works with common USB-C or proprietary docks for external monitors and peripherals. Integrated graphics frees power budget for battery life on the road. Buyers who need discrete GPU performance or a higher-resolution panel should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What clearance does the 14.0 inch chassis need for ventilation and port access?

The 14.0 inch body requires open space around the side vents and rear hinge area so the Intel HD Graphics 620 cooling can exhaust heat and the USB, video and power connectors remain reachable.

Which screw must be removed before lifting the keyboard deck to reach the two memory slots?

Loosen the single captive screw hidden under the centre rubber foot on the bottom cover, then pry the keyboard deck upward; skipping this screw cracks the plastic clips.

When will the 1 TB M.2 drive need replacement under heavy write workloads?

Plan to swap the 1 TB M.2 drive after several years of sustained writes; the Windows 10 Pro recovery image lets you restore the OS onto a new drive without extra media.
