Business ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 14.0 inch touchscreen laptop built for workers who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine on the move. Its quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U processor runs at 1.70 GHz with a 3.60 GHz boost across four cores and eight threads. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks without a discrete GPU.

Connectivity and expansion built into the chassis

The system includes HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort over USB Type-C with optional Thunderbolt, three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports (one with PowerShare), RJ45 Ethernet, an SD card slot, and a noble wedge lock slot. Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth provide wireless links. An external SIM tray is available for mobile broadband. The dual-drive layout uses a 128 GB M.2 primary drive and a 1 TB secondary SSD for storage flexibility.

Memory and storage headroom for typical workloads

8 GB of DDR4 RAM supports standard multitasking and office applications; the platform can accept up to 32 GB if heavier workloads demand it. The 128 GB boot drive keeps the operating system responsive while the 1 TB secondary drive stores large project files and media. Buyers who need more than 32 GB of memory or a dedicated graphics card should consider a workstation-class device.

Questions about this item

Does the 1.7 GHz i5-8350U throttle under sustained load?

The quad-core i5-8350U runs at a 1.7 GHz base with a 3.60 GHz maximum turbo; sustained speed depends on the cooling solution in this 14.0" chassis.

How loud or hot does the laptop get during all-day use?

Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and the 15 W-class processor keep heat moderate; fan noise rises only under heavy multi-core workloads.

What cables or peripherals must I already own to use the video outputs?

The system provides HDMI, VGA and DisplayPort over USB Type-C, so a compatible monitor cable for one of those interfaces is all you need.
