Built for harsh environments

The Dell Latitude Rugged 5424 is a 14.0-inch laptop designed to withstand tough conditions with specialised chassis construction and rigorous component testing. It targets field workers and mobile professionals who need a device that endures vibration, dust and temperature extremes without failing. The system ships new with Windows 10 Professional 64-bit installed.

Integrated graphics ceiling

Visual work relies on the Intel UHD Graphics 620 integrated controller, which shares system memory and has no dedicated video RAM. This limits the machine to office applications, web browsing and video playback; it cannot sustain 3D rendering, modern gaming or GPU-accelerated compute workloads. External displays connect via HDMI and DisplayPort for multi-monitor setups.

32 GB DDR4 and 512 GB SSD headroom

The 32 GB DDR4 memory provides ample space for running multiple business applications and browser tabs simultaneously without swapping. The 512 GB solid-state drive offers fast boot and load times for the OS and local project files. Users working with large media libraries, virtual machines or extensive offline datasets will eventually require external storage expansion.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512 GB SSD or the 32 GB DDR4 memory for my workload?

They serve different roles: the 512 GB SSD stores files and the operating system, while the 32 GB DDR4 memory runs active applications. Both are fixed in this configuration.

What does the 3.60 GHz boost speed mean when I am running field applications?

The Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor can reach 3.60 GHz on short bursts, giving responsive performance for rugged workloads before thermal limits settle it lower.

What do the USB 3.0 and USB Type C ports actually cap at for data transfer?

USB 3.0 ports are limited to 5 Gbps, and the USB Type C port follows the same 5 Gbps ceiling on this model.
