Rugged 14 build for harsh environments

The Latitude 5424 uses a reinforced chassis and component qualification process designed to survive drops, vibration and extreme temperatures. It targets field engineers, first responders and mobile professionals who need a 14.0 inch device that keeps working after rough handling.

Touchscreen and port selection change daily use

The 10-point touchscreen accepts gloved input and reaches brightness levels readable in direct sunlight. A USB Type-C port, HDMI, DisplayPort, serial port and RJ-45 jack let you connect legacy industrial gear and modern displays without adapters.

Integrated graphics and 8 GB DDR4 set performance

Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles office applications and video playback but cannot run modern 3D workloads or GPU-accelerated rendering. The soldered 8 GB DDR4 memory cannot be expanded, so heavy multitasking or virtual machines will hit a hard ceiling.

Questions about this item

Will the 512 GB SSD need replacement if I fill it with field data?

The 512 GB SSD is the only internal drive; adding more capacity later requires an external USB 3.0 device.

Does the i7-8650U throttle when running at 4.20 GHz all day?

Sustained turbo speeds are limited by the integrated cooling in the rugged chassis, so clock rates drop under continuous heavy load.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the 14.0 inch chassis feel during a full shift?

The rugged design uses a sealed fan system that stays audible but not disruptive; the magnesium-alloy frame spreads heat so the palm-rest remains warm, not hot.
