Precision 7730 mobile workstation

This 17.3-inch Dell Precision 7730 is a mobile workstation built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor. It combines a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card with 6 GB of GDDR5 memory and 128 GB of DDR4 system memory. Dual NVMe M.2 solid-state drives provide a total of 3 TB of storage capacity.

Suited for CAD and simulation workloads

The 1920 x 1080 IPS display covers 72 % colour gamut and the Quadro P3200 is optimised for computer-aided design applications. Buyers who require a touchscreen, a higher resolution panel or a larger colour volume should consider other configurations.

128 GB DDR4 memory capacity

The installed 128 GB of DDR4 RAM is the specification that determines whether this laptop can hold large assemblies and datasets in memory without paging. Verify that your workload fits within this limit before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What physical dimensions and mounting pattern does the 17.3 inch chassis require for a dock or stand?

The 17.3 inch Precision 7730 uses a silver chassis with standard VESA-compatible mounting points on the base; allow clearance for the side-mounted Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 ports when positioning a dock.

Which screw or clip is most often missed when installing the second M.2 NVMe drive?

The second M.2 slot sits under the wireless-card bracket; installers frequently forget to re-seat the single M2x3 mm retention screw after sliding the 2 TB NVMe module into place.

When will the 128 GB DDR4 memory or the 1 TB plus 2 TB NVMe SSDs typically need replacement?

DDR4 SO-DIMMs and NVMe SSDs in this workstation have no fixed service interval; monitor SMART health on the 1 TB and 2 TB drives and replace only if errors appear or capacity becomes insufficient.
