Precision 7730 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor. It carries 32GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive configuration of 256GB plus 1TB NVMe M.2 storage. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPU with 6GB GDDR5 memory drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS display.

Suits CAD and simulation users.

Engineers running CAD, BIM or light simulation workloads will find the Quadro P3200 certified for those applications. The 72% colour-gamut panel supports visual review tasks. Buyers who need a second GPU, more than 32GB of system memory, or a touchscreen should look at other configurations.

Quadro P3200 6GB GDDR5 decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6GB of GDDR5 video memory. It delivers ISV-certified performance for professional 3D applications. If your software requires a higher VRAM allocation or a newer GPU architecture, this workstation will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6GB GDDR5 is active after installing drivers?

Open Device Manager and confirm the Quadro P3200 appears under Display adapters with 6GB dedicated video memory. Run the NVIDIA Control Panel to verify the GPU is selected for 3D applications and check that the driver version matches the latest from NVIDIA.

What accessories are included and what must I purchase separately for external displays?

The package includes the Dell AC adapter. The laptop provides one HDMI 2.0 port and one Thunderbolt 3 port for external monitors. You must buy any display cables, adapters, or docking stations separately.

Which storage configuration should I choose between the 256GB + 1TB dual M.2 SSD setup and a single larger drive?

The dual-drive layout gives a 256GB NVMe M.2 SSD for the operating system and a 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD for project files. Choose this if you want fast boot and separate data space. A single larger drive simplifies management but removes the speed-and-separation benefit.
