Precision 7730 mobile workstation

This 17.3-inch Dell Precision 7730 is a new mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor and 64 GB of DDR4 memory. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPU with 6 GB of GDDR5 video memory drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS display. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro installed on a dual-drive configuration totalling over 4 TB of solid-state storage.

Ports and power before ordering

Confirm your existing peripherals match the available connections: two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one Thunderbolt 3 Type-C port, one HDMI 2.0 output and a headphone/microphone combo jack. The package includes a Dell AC adapter, so verify the plug suits your local mains supply or have a compatible alternative ready. No internal drive bays remain free after the factory-fitted M.2 devices.

Chassis and daily use

The silver and black chassis uses an InfinityEdge panel design with a 72 % colour gamut IPS screen that is non-touch. Dedicated Quadro graphics are optimised for CAD workloads and offer performance comparable to a GTX 1060. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 simplify multi-monitor setups, while the slim profile keeps the workstation portable for on-site engineering or design tasks.

Questions about this item

Does the box include the 128 GB M.2 and 4 TB M.2 SSDs already installed, or must I purchase and fit them myself?

Both drives are factory-fitted; the 128 GB M.2 and 4 TB M.2 SSDs ship inside the chassis so no separate storage purchase or installation is required.

Should I choose the 128 GB + 4 TB dual-drive configuration or a single larger drive for the Precision 7730?

The listed unit comes with the 128 GB M.2 plus 4 TB M.2 combination; that dual-drive layout is the only storage option described for this model.

What does the 4.10 GHz Turbo Boost figure mean for everyday CAD work on the i7-8750H?

The six-core i7-8750H can raise its clock to 4.10 GHz under load, giving short bursts of extra speed for single-threaded CAD operations while the Quadro P3200 handles the 3D viewport.
