16-Channel 4K UHD Video Recorder

This 16-channel recorder captures 4K UHD footage across HD-TVI, CVI, AHD and 960H cameras, storing up to 8 TB of H.265-compressed video. It suits installers and property managers who need a single appliance for mixed-analogue sites and remote viewing via the Magic Viewer app. RAID 1 mirroring protects recordings against a single drive failure.

Installation and Common Issues

The unit connects through HDMI, VGA or composite outputs, with a programmable spot monitor selectable up to 4K at 60 fps. Gigabit Ethernet links to the network for remote access and configuration. RS-485 handles PTZ control, while 16 audio inputs and a relay alarm output require separate wiring. Mis-matched camera formats or incorrect RS-485 addressing are the typical setup problems.

Pre-Order Compatibility Checks

Verify that existing cameras use HD-TVI, CVI, AHD or 960H signals, as other analogue standards will not register. Confirm the network infrastructure supports Gigabit speeds for smooth multi-user streaming. Ensure the recording retention target fits within the 8 TB capacity after H.265 compression gains. Check that the monitoring station can accept HDMI, VGA or composite input for the programmable spot output.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the recorder is capturing footage at 4K resolution after installation?

Check the live view and playback menus — the GUI shows the active resolution and frame rate for each of the 16 channels, and the programmable spot out can be set to 4K@60 on HDMI, VGA or Composite to confirm output quality.

What cables or accessories are included in the box versus what I must source separately?

The unit provides 16 channel audio inputs, HDMI, VGA and Composite video outputs, Gigabit Ethernet and RS-485 for PTZ control; cameras, hard drives beyond the fitted 8 TB, network cabling and any POS interface wiring are not included.

Which model variant should I choose if I need RAID 1 mirroring and the maximum 16 channels at 8 MP?

The TVST PVT 8M16H variant supports RAID 1 mirroring, 16 channels at 8 MP recording and the full feature set including H.265 codec, 576-area motion detection and 22-language GUI.
