What this adapter does

The LUOM LD240W is a straight USB-C magnetic gender changer that joins two Type-C cables or a cable and a device. It supports USB 4 at 40Gbps, carries up to 240W of Power Delivery charging and passes 8K video at 60Hz or 4K at 144Hz. The magnetic faces snap together one-handed and release cleanly if the lead is tugged. Two adapters and two cord straps are included.

The specification that decides fit

This part works only when both sides of the connection are USB-C male plugs; it will not mate with USB-A, micro-USB or proprietary ports. The USB 4 rating guarantees 40Gbps throughput and 8K60Hz display output only if the host, cable and display all implement USB 4 or Thunderbolt. With lesser hosts the link falls back to their maximum standard.

Behaviour under sustained load

The adapter delivers the full 240W (48V/5A) continuously while the LED shows a soft white glow, and the magnetic joint stays seated without adding measurable resistance. Data at 40Gbps remains stable during long file transfers because the connector meets the USB 4 electrical spec. Heat stays low enough that the housing does not throttle the negotiated power profile.

Questions about this item

How does the 40Gbps rating translate to real-world file transfers?

The adapter meets the USB 4 standard at 40Gbps, so large media files move across the link in seconds when both host and cable support that speed.

What does the USB 4 interface cap in practice?

USB 4 limits the connection to 40Gbps data, 240W power delivery at up to 48V/5A, and 8K video at 60Hz or 4K at 144Hz.

What physical space does the magnetic tip need to fit?

The straight male-to-male tip plugs directly into any USB-C port and adds only the length of the magnetic connector itself.
