What this adapter is and who it suits

The LUOM LD240W is a magnetic USB-C gender changer sold as a two-pack. Each unit provides a male-to-male right-angle connection that supports USB4 at 40Gbps, Power Delivery up to 240W and 8K video at 60Hz. It is built for laptop users who want a quick-release link that protects the device port from wear and accidental cable pulls.

Who should buy it and who should not

Buyers needing a compact, detachable bridge for high-wattage charging, fast data exchange and 8K display output on USB-C laptops such as MacBook Pro or iPad Pro will benefit. Users whose devices lack USB-C ports or whose chargers and cables do not support 48V/5A delivery cannot reach the rated 240W and should look at other connection types.

Behaviour under sustained load

The adapter maintains the USB4 40Gbps data rate and 240W power throughput during extended transfers or charging sessions, provided the host, cable and power source all meet the 48V/5A specification. Magnetic detachment under tension protects the laptop from falls, while the right-angle form reduces strain on the port during long-term use.

Questions about this item

What USB-C charger and cable do I need to get the full 240W charging speed?

You need a USB-C charger and cable that both support USB Power Delivery at 48V/5A to reach the 240W maximum; lower-rated gear will charge at its own limit.

Will this adapter work with my existing Thunderbolt 3 dock and cables?

Yes, the adapter follows the USB 4 standard so it is backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3 devices, though speeds will fall to the Thunderbolt 3 maximum.

How can I confirm the adapter is delivering 40Gbps data and 8K 60Hz video after I plug it in?

Check your operating system's port speed readout — it should show a 40Gbps link — and verify your display settings list 8K resolution at 60Hz.
