Magnetic USB-C Adapter for Laptops

This two-pack of LUOM LD240W magnetic adapters adds a breakaway USB-C connection to laptops and other USB-C devices. Each male-to-male connector snaps on with one hand and releases safely if the cable is pulled, reducing wear on the device port. The adapters support USB4 at 40Gbps, 8K video at 60Hz and Power Delivery up to 240W.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

Passive components mean no fan noise and no active cooling requirement during normal operation. Power delivery reaches 240W at 48V/5A when paired with a compatible charger and cable, and an LED indicator shows a soft white light while charging. The magnetic coupling adds negligible resistance, so data and video signals remain stable at rated speeds.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under continuous 40Gbps transfers or 8K 60Hz output the adapter maintains full throughput without throttling, relying on the host and cable for thermal management. The magnetic latch stays secure during vibration but still releases under strong lateral force, protecting the laptop from falls. No active circuitry limits session length beyond the host's own thermal envelope.

Questions about this item

How do I install the LUOM LD240W magnetic adapter and what step do people often miss?

Snap the male connector into your device's USB-C port, then let the magnetic end auto-attach to the cable; the step users miss is aligning the polarity markers so the LED lights up, confirming full 240W PD handshake.

What maintenance or replacement will the LUOM LD240W need over time?

Wipe the magnetic contacts with a dry cloth if charging drops below 240W; the two included cord straps should be replaced if their elastic loops stretch and no longer secure the adapter.

Which limit appears first during sustained heavy use of the LUOM LD240W?

The 40Gbps USB4 data ceiling saturates before the 240W power delivery maxes out, so prolonged 8K 60Hz transfers will hit the bandwidth limit first.
