Indoor Wi-Fi 6 access point with 2.5 GbE

The Sophos AP6 840 is a dual-radio indoor access point built for medium to high density environments such as offices and higher education campuses. It operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands using 4x4:4 MIMO and supports up to 32 SSIDs split evenly across the two radios. One year of AP6 Series support is included, enabling cloud management through Sophos Central, firmware updates, advanced RMA and 24/7 multi-channel support.

Plenum-rated chassis with single PoE+ port

The unit measures 225 x 43 x 225 mm and weighs 1.2 kg, with a plenum-rated enclosure certified to UL 2043 for installation in air-handling spaces. Four internal omnidirectional antennas serve each band and the device draws up to 30 W from a single 2.5 GbE port that accepts 802.3at PoE+. A micro-USB console port is also provided for local configuration and the appliance carries CB, UL, CE, FCC, ISED, RCM, TEC and EN 60601-1-2 certifications.

Wi-Fi 6 throughput ceiling and management dependency

Maximum theoretical data rates reach 3550 Mbps combined, with 1150 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz radio and 2400 Mbps on the 5 GHz radio. DFS support is present for dynamic frequency selection on 5 GHz channels. Cloud-managed features require a valid AP6 support subscription per access point; without it Sophos Central management, firmware updates and advanced support entitlements are not available.
