Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E access point with three 2.5 GbE ports, 4×4 MIMO and plenum-rated indoor housing
Model AP6 840E
Model No Support included
The Sophos AP6 840E is a Wi-Fi 6E indoor access point built for high-density environments such as large offices and higher-education campuses. It operates across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands simultaneously, each radio using a 4x4 MIMO configuration. Cloud management via Sophos Central requires an active support subscription per unit, while a local web interface provides standalone control.
Two 2.5G multigigabit Ethernet ports handle wired backhaul, one delivering 802.3bt PoE++ at up to 60 W and the second operating without PoE. The device draws a maximum of 45 W, so a compliant PoE++ injector or compatible switch is required. Plenum-rated construction meets UL 2043 for installation in air-handling spaces, and the unit mounts indoors without external antennas.
Aggregate theoretical throughput reaches 8350 Mbps, split as 1150 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 2800 Mbps on 5 GHz and 4800 Mbps on 6 GHz. Three independent radios serve clients concurrently, reducing contention during prolonged high-density usage. DFS support keeps 5 GHz channels available under radar interference, while 48 SSIDs across the radios allow persistent network segmentation for different user groups.
