7-inch facial access terminal

The Audiovox zFace1701 is a 7-inch touch-screen terminal that combines facial recognition with IC card verification for door access and time attendance. It stores up to 10000 users, 10000 face templates and 10000 cards while logging 300000 events. IP65 protection allows indoor or outdoor mounting. Communication runs over TCP/IP, USB flash drive or optional WiFi.

Upgrade from basic keypad or card-only readers

The jump is worth it when you need hands-free identity checks and a visual intercom link to indoor units or wireless doorbell receivers. Visible-light facial recognition with a binocular camera replaces PIN entry or single-factor cards, cutting queue times and eliminating buddy-punching. Buyers who only need simple card swipe logging will not use the biometric capacity.

Wall-mount installation with standard wiring

Power and network cables connect to the rear terminals; the unit fits a standard electrical box pattern. The 7-inch touch screen handles enrolment and settings locally, so no external PC is required for daily operation. Common issues include weak WiFi signal at the mounting spot and incorrect door-lock relay wiring that prevents remote opening.

Questions about this item

Does the 7-inch touch-screen unit need a specific wall-box depth or mounting pattern?

The terminal mounts directly on a flat wall with four screws; its IP65 rating means the back housing seals against the surface, so no recessed box is required.

Which wiring step do installers most often miss when connecting the lock relay?

The relay provides a dry contact only; a separate power supply for the electric strike or maglock must be wired in series with the NO/COM terminals.

How often should the binocular camera lenses be cleaned to keep facial recognition accurate?

Wipe the two camera windows with a soft, dry cloth whenever dust or rain residue builds up; no scheduled replacement of the sensor module is specified.
