Built for harsh environments

The Dell Latitude 5424 Rugged is a 14-inch business laptop engineered to withstand tough conditions. It targets field workers and mobile professionals who need a durable device that survives drops, vibration and extreme temperatures. Military-grade testing ensures reliability where standard laptops would fail.

Dual SSD storage and extensive ports

A 128GB M.2 drive paired with a 2TB M.2 drive provides fast boot speeds and large local capacity for project files. The chassis includes USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C connector, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs for dual monitors, a serial port for legacy equipment and an RJ-45 jack for wired networks. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch screen.

Check power and OS needs before buying

The system ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and a Dell OEM charger included. Verify that your workflows are compatible with Windows 10 and that the supplied power adapter meets your regional voltage requirements. The quad-core i5-8350U processor with 6MB cache and 16GB DDR4 memory suits office applications but is not intended for heavy rendering or gaming workloads.

Questions about this item

What USB standard do the Type-A ports use and what throughput does it cap at?

The laptop provides USB 3.0 Type-A ports, limiting data transfers to the 5 Gbps ceiling of that standard.

What drive form factors and lengths does the internal M.2 storage slot accept?

The dual SSD configuration uses M.2 modules; the factory-fitted 128 GB and 2 TB drives confirm standard M.2 2280 length support.

How is an additional M.2 drive installed and which step is most often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the M.2 module into the open slot, and secure it with the retaining screw; the step often missed is fully seating the drive before tightening the screw.
