Built for harsh environments

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a rugged 14.0-inch laptop designed to withstand tough conditions. It targets field workers and mobile professionals who need a durable device certified for military-grade testing. The non-touch FHD display offers 1920 x 1080 resolution for clear viewing in direct sunlight. This unit arrives new with Windows 10 Pro installed.

Thermals and power in daily use

The Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor runs with a 6MB L2 cache and speeds up to 3.60 GHz. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output without a discrete GPU. The 32GB DDR4 memory supports multitasking while the efficient CPU architecture helps manage heat and power draw during extended field shifts. No discrete graphics card means lower sustained thermal load.

Build integration and expansion

Dual M.2 solid-state drives provide 128GB and 2TB of storage capacity for the operating system and data. Connectivity includes USB 3.0 ports, USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, a serial port and RJ-45 Ethernet. Wireless options cover Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with optional LTE 4G and GPS. Internal 6-cell or 9-cell batteries support all-day use with optional hot-swap bridge battery.

Questions about this item

How is the 128GB M.2 SSD installed, and what step is often missed?

The 128GB M.2 drive slots into the internal M.2 connector; the step often missed is securing it with the retention screw so the drive stays seated under vibration.

What maintenance will the dual SSD storage need later?

The 128GB and 2TB M.2 SSDs have no moving parts; only periodic firmware updates and capacity monitoring are required.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads?

The Intel UHD Graphics 620 integrated GPU thermal ceiling is reached before the i5-8350U processor throttles.
