Rugged 14-inch touchscreen laptop

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a new rugged laptop built for harsh environments with military-grade construction. It features a 14.0-inch FHD touchscreen display with 1920 x 1080 resolution suitable for outdoor visibility. An 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 6MB cache and speeds up to 3.60 GHz powers the system alongside 8GB DDR4 memory.

Integrated graphics and connectivity limits

Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output through integrated architecture without dedicated video memory. The system provides USB 3.0 ports, USB Type-C, HDMI and DisplayPort for external displays. A serial port and RJ-45 Ethernet add legacy and wired network options for field deployments.

Dual SSD storage capacity and headroom

Storage combines a 128GB M.2 drive with a 2TB M.2 drive in a dual SSD configuration. The smaller drive suits the Windows 10 Pro operating system and core applications. The larger drive accommodates extensive local data sets, though users needing more than 2TB total capacity must add external storage.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 128 GB M.2 or the 2 TB M.2 drive for my main workload?

The 128 GB M.2 is best for the operating system and core applications so they launch quickly, while the 2 TB M.2 gives ample room for large project files, media libraries and backups without slowing the primary volume.

What does the 3.60 GHz boost clock on the i5-8350U actually deliver in daily use?

The quad-core processor reaches 3.60 GHz on short bursts for snappy web browsing, document editing and light multitasking, then settles to a lower sustained speed to manage heat inside the rugged chassis.

Which external displays can I drive through the USB Type-C port?

The USB Type-C connection supports video output, so you can attach a 1920 x 1080 monitor or projector directly; higher resolutions are not guaranteed by the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620.
