Rugged 14 laptop for field work

The DELL Latitude 5424 is a 14.0-inch rugged laptop built to military-grade standards for harsh environments. Its toughened chassis and direct-view FHD display are designed to withstand outdoor use and direct sunlight. The non-touch screen suits users who prefer a traditional input method. It runs Windows 10 Professional on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U processor.

Connectivity and mounting for mobile use

The unit provides USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type C connector, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, a serial port and an RJ-45 jack. These interfaces support legacy peripherals, external monitors and wired networks in the field. Wireless options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional LTE 4G with dedicated GPS. Hot-swap battery capability allows continuous operation without shutting down.

Thermals and power in normal use

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and quad-core i5-8350U with speeds up to 3.60 GHz produce modest heat under typical office workloads. Passive and active cooling in the rugged chassis keeps surface temperatures controlled during extended shifts. The 32 GB DDR4 memory and 256 GB SSD draw little power, helping the internal 6- or 9-cell batteries deliver all-day runtime.
