Rugged 14 chassis

The DELL Latitude 5424 is a new 14-inch rugged laptop built to military-grade durability standards for harsh environments. Its toughened chassis and specialised component qualification suit field workers, outdoor professionals and mobile teams who need reliable operation in dust, vibration and temperature extremes.

Touchscreen and dual SSD

The 10-point touchscreen works with protective gloves and offers high brightness for direct sunlight visibility. A dual-drive configuration pairs a 128GB M.2 drive with a 2TB M.2 drive, giving fast boot and application load times alongside large local storage capacity for project files and media.

32GB DDR4 and integrated graphics

32GB of DDR4 memory provides ample headroom for multitasking, virtual machines and large datasets. Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles office applications, video playback and multi-monitor setups through HDMI and DisplayPort. Buyers needing discrete GPU performance for CAD, rendering or modern gaming should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I replace the 32GB DDR4 memory or the 128GB and 2TB M.2 drives later?

Both M.2 slots and the DDR4 SO-DIMM sockets are accessible after removing the rugged chassis screws, so you can swap the 128GB boot drive, the 2TB storage drive or upgrade the 32GB memory yourself.

What limits sustained performance first — the i5-8350U hitting its 3.60 GHz ceiling or the Intel UHD Graphics 620 thermal ceiling?

The quad-core i5-8350U reaches its 3.60 GHz turbo limit before the integrated UHD 620 becomes the bottleneck, so CPU-heavy tasks throttle first.

How loud and hot does the 14.0 inch FHD touchscreen unit get when running all day on the internal battery?

The fan stays quiet at idle and spins up only under load; the magnesium chassis spreads heat so surface temperatures stay comfortable during full-shift use on the 6- or 9-cell pack.
