Built for harsh environments

The Dell Latitude 5424 Rugged is a 14.0-inch laptop constructed with specialised materials and a chassis qualified through rigorous test-to-failure methodology. It is designed for field workers, first responders and mobile professionals who need a device that survives drops, vibration, dust and moisture while running Windows 11 Pro.

Sustained field performance

An Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 8 MB cache and speeds up to 4.20 GHz works alongside 8 GB DDR4 memory and Intel UHD Graphics 620 to maintain responsiveness during long shifts. Dual M.2 solid-state drives totalling 128 GB and 1 TB provide fast, reliable storage access without moving parts that could fail under shock.

Sunlight-readable touchscreen

The 1920 x 1080 FHD panel supports 10-point touch input that works with protective gloves and delivers brightness levels readable in direct sunlight. Buyers who need a larger display, discrete graphics or user-replaceable memory modules should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the Core i7-8650U produce when the 5424 runs all day?

The quad-core i7-8650U has an 8 MB cache and reaches 4.20 GHz, so sustained loads will warm the rugged chassis; fan noise rises under heavy work but stays moderate for office tasks.

Which cables and peripherals must I already own to use the USB 3.0, USB Type C, HDMI, DisplayPort, serial and RJ-45 ports?

You need matching USB 3.0 or Type C cables, an HDMI or DisplayPort lead for external monitors, a serial cable for legacy kit and an Ethernet patch cord for the RJ-45 jack.

Will the Intel UHD Graphics 620 drive my older 1080p monitor over HDMI or DisplayPort without issues?

Yes, the integrated 620 graphics supports 1920 x 1080 output over both HDMI and DisplayPort, so a legacy 1080p screen will work at its native resolution.
