Built for harsh environments

The Dell Latitude 5424 Rugged is a 14.0-inch laptop engineered to withstand tough conditions. It uses specialized materials and rigorous testing to ensure reliability in the field. The FHD display reaches brightness levels suitable for direct sunlight viewing. A non-touch screen option is available for use with protective gloves.

Suits mobile field workers, not stationary offices

This machine targets professionals who need a durable computer outdoors or in industrial settings. The extended battery life supports full-shift productivity away from power outlets. Buyers who want a thin ultrabook for daily commuting should look elsewhere. The rugged chassis adds bulk that is unnecessary for a static desk setup.

Dual M.2 storage frees drive bays

The configuration includes a 512 GB and a 1 TB M.2 solid-state drive, providing fast boot and ample capacity without occupying a 2.5-inch bay. Connectivity covers USB 3.0, USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, serial and RJ-45 ports. An internal 6- or 9-cell battery pack handles mobile power needs.

Questions about this item

What type of memory does the Latitude 5424 use, and is it user-upgradeable?

It uses DDR4 memory; the 8 GB module is installed and additional DDR4 SO-DIMMs can be added if a free slot is present.

Can I keep using my USB 3.0 peripherals and external HDMI monitor with this laptop?

Yes, the 5424 provides USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI output, so existing USB 3.0 devices and HDMI displays connect directly.

How can I confirm the dual SSD configuration is recognised after first boot?

Open Disk Management in Windows 10 Pro — both the 512 GB and 1 TB M.2 drives should appear as separate healthy volumes.
