Ready for business workloads

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 14.0 inch FHD ultrabook built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout with 512 GB M.2 plus 2 TB secondary SSD give ample space for large projects. Windows 11 Pro is installed and the IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input.

Thermals noise and power

Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 keeps heat output modest during typical office tasks. The slim 0.9 inch chassis runs quiet under light loads and the 1.7 GHz base clock with 3.60 GHz boost manages power draw efficiently. Fan noise stays low for meeting rooms and open-plan offices.

Upgrade path and fit

This configuration suits users moving from dual-core machines or limited storage setups who need four cores and multi-terabyte capacity in one device. Buyers who want discrete graphics or a touchscreen should look elsewhere. The quad-core jump is worth it when multitasking across virtual machines, large spreadsheets or code compilation.

Questions about this item

How do I install the secondary 2TB SSD in the Latitude 5590, and which step do people often miss?

Remove the base cover, insert the drive into the open M.2 slot, secure it with the retention screw, then initialise the volume in Disk Management — the step most people skip.

What maintenance or replacement will the 32 GB DDR4 memory configuration need later?

The memory is soldered and not user-replaceable; no routine maintenance is required, but a future capacity increase would need a motherboard swap.

What limit appears first on the Core i5-8350U during sustained workloads?

The 15 W TDP thermal envelope throttles the quad-core processor from its 3.60 GHz turbo down to base clocks within minutes under continuous load.
