Business-ready 14-inch laptop

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 14.0-inch FHD business laptop built for professionals who need reliable mobile computing. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 1.90 GHz base clock can reach 4.20 GHz under load across four cores and eight threads. The U-series design balances performance with thermal limits typical of a thin ultrabook chassis. Under continuous heavy multitasking the processor will throttle to manage heat, so prolonged compile or render jobs run slower than short bursts. The 8 MB L2 cache helps keep frequent data close to the cores during extended sessions.

Installation and common issues

The laptop arrives with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed and licensed, so initial setup follows the standard out-of-box experience. Connectivity includes USB 3.1 Gen1, USB Type-C with DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, RJ45 and an SD slot for peripheral hookup. Buyers who need discrete graphics for CAD or gaming, or who require user-replaceable batteries, should look elsewhere. Thunderbolt support is optional and not guaranteed on every unit.

Questions about this item

How hot and noisy does the 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U get when running all day?

The quad-core i7-8650U operates at a 1.9 GHz base clock with a 4.2 GHz turbo boost; typical ultrabook cooling keeps surface temperatures and fan noise moderate under sustained office workloads.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the USB Type-C DisplayPort and HDMI outputs?

You need a USB-C to DisplayPort cable or adapter for the Type-C port and a standard HDMI cable for the HDMI port; both ports are built in and require no dock.

Will my older VGA monitor and USB 3.0 devices work with the 5590's VGA and USB 3.0 ports?

Yes, the laptop includes a native VGA port and three USB 3.0 Type-A ports (one with PowerShare), so legacy monitors and peripherals connect directly.
