Precision 5530 UHD Touch Workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation with a 3840 x 2160 UHD IPS touchscreen. It runs on a six core Intel Core i9-8950HK processor with 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 GPU with 4 GB GDDR5 video memory. Windows 10 Pro comes pre installed on the 1 TB SSD.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 Connectivity

The system provides one Thunderbolt 3 port with four lane PCIe bandwidth plus one HDMI 2.0 output for external displays. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports handle standard peripherals. Wireless connectivity uses a Wi Fi and Bluetooth combo module. No legacy video or Ethernet ports are present on the chassis.

Serviceable Storage and Memory Slots

The 1 TB SSD uses an M.2 form factor that can be swapped after removing the base cover. Memory occupies two SODIMM slots supporting up to 32 GB total DDR4 capacity. Opening the chassis requires Torx screws and careful disconnecting of the battery cable first. Thermal paste on the dual fan heatsink may need replacement after extended heavy workloads.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1TB SSD or one of the smaller SATA or NVME options?

The 1TB SSD gives the largest single-drive capacity available for this configuration, avoiding the need to manage multiple smaller volumes.

What does the 4.80 GHz turbo figure mean for daily workloads?

The i9-8950HK can reach 4.80 GHz on up to 6 cores when thermals allow, shortening render and compile bursts before the dual-fan cooling settles to a sustained clock.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port actually cap at?

Thunderbolt 3 provides x4 PCIe bandwidth, so external GPUs or NVME arrays run at full 4-lane speed rather than being limited to a single lane.
