Precision 5530 Mobile Workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 dedicated graphics with 4 GB GDDR5 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and dual storage comprising a 256 GB M.2 drive plus a 1 TB SSD. The 1920 x 1080 IPS panel covers 72% color gamut and offers InfinityEdge thin bezels in a silver chassis.

Suited for CAD, 3D modeling

Professionals who need certified Quadro drivers for ISV applications and a portable 15.6-inch form factor will benefit from the P2000 and hexa-core CPU combination. Buyers who require a touchscreen, larger display, or higher GPU memory for heavy rendering should consider other configurations. The fixed 16 GB DDR4 capacity limits memory-intensive virtualization or large dataset work.

Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5

The discrete NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics card with 4 GB GDDR5 video memory determines whether this system meets the graphics certification and performance threshold for specific professional applications. Verify that your ISV software lists the P2000 as a supported or recommended GPU before purchase.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need to buy any cables or drives separately?

The laptop ships with the Dell AC adapter and Windows 10 Pro installed. Dual storage of 256 GB M.2 plus 1 TB SSD and 16 GB DDR4 RAM are already fitted, so no extra drives or memory are required.

Should I choose the 256 GB M.2 plus 1 TB SSD configuration or a different capacity?

This unit is built with 256 GB M.2 and 1 TB SSD combined. Other configurations such as 128 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB alone exist in the range, but this specific model includes the dual-drive layout shown in the title.

What does the i9-8950HK 2.90 GHz up to 4.80 GHz figure mean for real workloads?

The six-core processor runs at 2.90 GHz base and can reach 4.80 GHz with Turbo Boost, delivering high single-thread speed for CAD and multi-thread throughput for rendering alongside the Quadro P2000 4 GB GDDR5.
