Mobile workstation with UHD touch display

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6" mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor, 16 GB DDR4 memory and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics with 4 GB GDDR5. It combines a 3840 x 2160 IPS touchscreen with dual storage: a 256 GB M.2 drive and a 1 TB SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Who benefits and who should look elsewhere

Creative professionals needing accurate colour on a 72 % gamut UHD touch panel, ISV-certified Quadro graphics and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity will find this configuration well suited. Buyers who require more than 16 GB of system memory, a newer processor generation or a lighter ultraportable chassis should consider other options.

Deciding specification: 3840 x 2160 touch display

The 15.6" 3840 x 2160 IPS touchscreen is the single specification that determines fit. It delivers the pixel density and touch input required for detailed visual work, while the Quadro P2000 drives professional 3D applications. If a non-touch panel or lower resolution meets the workflow, a different model may be more appropriate.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop ship with both the 256 GB M.2 drive and the 1 TB SSD already installed, or must I add one of them myself?

Both drives are factory-fitted — the 256 GB M.2 unit and the 1 TB SSD — so no extra storage purchase is required.

Should I pick the 16 GB DDR4 configuration or the 32 GB DDR4 option mentioned in the highlights?

This unit comes with 16 GB DDR4; the 32 GB figure is the maximum the platform supports, not the fitted amount.

What does the 3840 x 2160 UHD touch panel deliver in daily work?

It provides a 15.6-inch IPS display with 72 % colour gamut and multi-touch input for precise creative tasks.
