Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch UHD touchscreen mobile workstation built for professionals who need certified graphics and a colour-accurate display in a thin silver chassis. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and includes a Dell AC adapter.

Upgrade from integrated graphics or older Quadro

The six-core Intel Core i9-8950HK at 2.90 GHz with Turbo up to 4.80 GHz and 12 MB cache pairs with an NVIDIA Quadro P2000 4 GB GDDR5 card to accelerate CAD, 3D rendering and video workloads. Dual storage — 512 GB M.2 plus 2 TB SSD — and 16 GB DDR4 RAM remove the bottlenecks common on lesser configurations.

Check your workflow and peripherals

Buyers who need more than 16 GB RAM or a newer GPU architecture should verify that this specification matches the software vendor requirements. The IPS panel covers 72 % colour gamut; users targeting wider gamuts must confirm suitability. Ports include two USB 3.1 Gen 1, one Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 for external displays.

Questions about this item

What size M.2 drive does the 512 GB slot accept?

The 512 GB drive uses an M.2 form factor; the chassis accepts standard 2280 M.2 modules for that slot.

Which screw secures the M.2 drive during installation?

A single M2 × 3 mm standoff screw holds the M.2 drive; the common mistake is using a longer screw that damages the board.

When should the 16 GB DDR4 memory be upgraded?

The system supports up to 32 GB DDR4; upgrade when memory pressure appears in professional workloads.
