Mobile workstation for creators

The Dell Precision 5530 pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory and an NVIDIA Quadro P2000 4 GB GDDR5 GPU. A 15.6 inch UHD IPS touch panel at 3840 x 2160 resolution covers 72 percent colour gamut. Dual storage combines a 1 TB M.2 drive with a 2 TB SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

Dual fans and heat pipes keep the hexa-core CPU near its 4.80 GHz turbo ceiling during long render or simulation runs. The Quadro P2000 delivers stable frame rates in certified ISV applications without throttling. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 maintain full bandwidth for external displays throughout extended sessions.

Thermals noise and power

The cooling design moves air efficiently so surface temperatures stay comfortable during typical office or studio tasks. Fan noise remains low under light loads and rises only when the GPU and all six cores are fully utilised. The included Dell AC adapter supplies sufficient power for the configured hardware.

Questions about this item

How hot and loud does the Precision 5530 get when the i9-8950HK runs at 4.80 GHz all day?

The dual-fan cooling system is designed to improve airflow and keep the system cool under sustained heavy workloads from the six-core processor.

Which cables or docks do I need to connect my existing monitors to the Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 ports?

Use a Thunderbolt 3 cable or certified dock for the USB-C port and a standard HDMI 2.0 cable for the HDMI output to drive external displays.

Will my older SATA SSDs work alongside the 1TB M.2 and 2TB SSD already installed?

The workstation includes both M.2 and 2.5-inch SATA bays, so existing SATA drives can be added without removing the factory NVMe storage.
