Mobile workstation with Quadro P3200

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card with 6 GB of GDDR5 memory handles professional visualisation workloads. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed.

Connectivity and expansion for desk deployment

The chassis provides two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port and an HDMI 2.0 output for external displays. A headphone and microphone combo jack handles audio. The Thunderbolt 3 connection supports high-speed peripherals and additional monitors, freeing the other ports for accessories. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are integrated for wireless networking.

Suited to CAD and 3D modelling on the move

Engineers and designers who need certified Quadro drivers for CAD, DCC or simulation applications will benefit from the P3200 GPU and the 1920 x 1080 IPS panel with 72 % colour gamut. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a higher refresh-rate display or a lighter ultraportable form factor should look at something else.

Questions about this item

What is the thermal ceiling for the i7-8750H under continuous load?

The 6-core i7-8750H runs at a 2.20 GHz base and can reach 4.10 GHz with Turbo Boost, so sustained work will hit the processor's own power and temperature limits first.

How loud or hot does the Precision 7730 get when the Quadro P3200 6 GB GDDR5 is driven all day?

The chassis uses a dual-fan layout with heat pipes designed for the dedicated Quadro P3200 and the hexa-core CPU, keeping noise and surface temperatures in check during extended sessions.

Which dock or power brick must I already own to run this 7730 at full speed?

The box includes the Dell AC adapter; for single-cable docking you need a Thunderbolt 3 dock that can deliver the same wattage over USB-C.
