Precision 7730 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor. It carries 32 GB of DDR4 memory, a 512 GB M.2 drive plus a 1 TB M.2 drive, and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card with 6 GB of GDDR5 video memory. The 1920 x 1080 IPS panel covers 72 percent colour gamut. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Suited for CAD and content creation.

Engineers and designers running CAD, 3D modelling or video editing workflows will benefit from the Quadro P3200 GPU and the hexa-core CPU. The dual M.2 slots and 32 GB RAM support large project files and multitasking. Buyers who need a thin-and-light chassis or all-day battery life should look elsewhere, as this 17.3 inch workstation prioritises performance and screen real estate over portability.

Quadro P3200 6 GB GDDR5 decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB of GDDR5 memory. It is optimised for professional graphics applications and delivers performance comparable to a GeForce GTX 1060. If your workload relies on certified drivers for SolidWorks, Revit or similar ISV-certified software, this GPU meets that requirement; if you only need integrated graphics, a different Precision model would be more appropriate.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512 GB or 1 TB drive option?

This unit comes with both a 512 GB M.2 SSD and a 1 TB M.2 SSD already installed, so there is no single-drive choice to make.

What does the i7-8750H 2.20 GHz to 4.10 GHz range mean for daily work?

The six-core processor runs at 2.20 GHz base and can boost to 4.10 GHz when thermal headroom allows, giving strong multi-thread speed for CAD and rendering.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port actually support?

Thunderbolt 3 provides up to 40 Gb/s bandwidth for external GPUs, high-speed storage and dual 4K displays through a single USB-C connector.
