Mobile workstation with 64 GB DDR4 and dual NVMe

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory and two NVMe solid-state drives totalling 1 TB plus 512 GB. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS display. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Engineers and creators who need certified graphics

This unit suits CAD, BIM and simulation users who rely on ISV-certified drivers and a colour-accurate 72 % gamut panel. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 support external displays and docks. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a lighter ultraportable chassis or a higher refresh-rate gaming panel should look elsewhere.

Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 is the deciding spec

The professional GPU determines whether the laptop can run certified SOLIDWORKS, CATIA or Revit viewports smoothly. If your workflow depends on those certifications, this configuration matches the requirement; if you only need consumer GeForce performance, a different class of device will cost less.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 512 GB plus 1 TB dual-drive configuration or a single larger drive?

The dual-drive layout gives you a 512 GB boot drive and a 1 TB data drive, totalling fast storage without sacrificing speed on either volume.

What does the 4.10 GHz turbo frequency mean for daily workloads?

The six-core i7-8750H can reach 4.10 GHz on short bursts, so compile jobs and CAD renders finish faster before the chip settles at its 2.20 GHz base.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port actually cap in practice?

The Thunderbolt 3 connection supports up to 40 Gbps, enough for dual 4K displays or an external GPU enclosure without bottlenecks.
