Mobile workstation for demanding professionals

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics with 4GB GDDR5 memory. It runs Windows 10 Pro and includes 16GB DDR4 RAM alongside dual storage comprising a 512GB M.2 drive and a 4TB SSD. The FHD IPS display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution at 72% colour gamut.

Suits CAD engineers and content creators

This configuration suits users who need certified professional graphics and high single-thread performance for 3D modelling, rendering or video editing workflows. The Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 ports support external displays and fast peripherals. Buyers who require a touchscreen, higher colour coverage or a newer processor architecture should consider other options.

4TB total capacity with room for large projects

The combined 512GB M.2 and 4TB SSD provide ample space for operating system, applications and active project files. 16GB DDR4 handles multi-application workloads and moderate simulation tasks. Memory upgrades are possible up to 32GB DDR4. The Quadro P2000 4GB GDDR5 frame buffer limits very large texture datasets or complex GPU compute jobs.

Questions about this item

Which Thunderbolt 3 devices can I connect to the single Thunderbolt 3 port on this Precision 5530?

Any Thunderbolt 3 peripheral — docks, external GPUs, NVMe enclosures or displays — will operate at full x4 PCIe bandwidth through the single Thunderbolt 3 port.

Will my existing SATA SSDs work alongside the 512 GB M.2 and 4 TB SSD already installed?

The laptop has no 2.5-inch bay and no spare M.2 slot, so additional SATA drives cannot be added internally; external USB 3.1 Gen 1 enclosures are the only way to use them.

How can I verify the Quadro P2000 is running with its full 4 GB GDDR5 after Windows 10 Pro boots?

Open NVIDIA Control Panel → System Information and confirm the dedicated GPU shows Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 memory; GPU-Z or Task Manager Performance tab will report the same.
