Mobile workstation with dual storage

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor. It combines 32 GB of DDR4 memory with a 256 GB M.2 drive plus a 4 TB SSD. An NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics card with 4 GB of GDDR5 video memory handles professional visual workloads.

Suited for GPU-accelerated applications

This configuration serves engineers, designers and analysts who rely on certified drivers for CAD, simulation or rendering software. The dedicated Quadro GPU and hexa-core CPU deliver the compute headroom those tasks demand. Buyers who need a touchscreen or a higher-colour-gamut panel should look elsewhere.

Six-core i9-8950HK with Turbo Boost

The processor runs at a 2.90 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.80 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, providing 12 MB of cache across six cores. That single-thread and multi-thread ceiling determines whether the system meets your application’s minimum CPU requirement.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 256 GB M.2 plus 4 TB SSD or a single larger drive?

This unit ships with both a 256 GB M.2 and a 4 TB SSD already installed, giving fast boot space and a large work volume in one package.

What does the 4.80 GHz turbo figure mean for daily rendering?

The six-core i9-8950HK can lift from 2.90 GHz to 4.80 GHz on heavy loads, so the Quadro P2000 gets data faster during short bursts.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port actually cap at?

The Thunderbolt 3 connection provides x4 PCIe lanes and carries HDMI 2.0 video, so external GPUs or 4K displays run at full protocol speed.
