Mobile workstation for intensive workloads

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch UHD touchscreen mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor running at 2.90 GHz with Turbo up to 4.80 GHz. It ships with 32 GB DDR4 RAM, a 256 GB M.2 drive plus a 4 TB SSD, and an NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics card with 4 GB GDDR5 memory. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Check ports, power and OS requirements

Verify that your peripherals match the available I/O: two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port and one HDMI 2.0 output, plus a headphone/microphone combo jack. The included AC adapter must suit your local mains voltage. Confirm that Windows 10 Pro meets your software licensing and security policies before deployment.

Replaces older mobile workstations lacking

This unit upgrades from earlier Precision models that lack Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, a 3840 x 2160 touch panel or the combined 256 GB M.2 plus 4 TB SSD configuration. The jump is worth it when you need the 72% colour-gamut InfinityEdge display, dedicated Quadro graphics and 32 GB DDR4 in a single thin-and-light chassis.

Questions about this item

Does the Precision 5530 come with a power adapter or must one be purchased separately?

The Dell AC adapter is included in the box so no separate purchase is required.

Should I choose the 256 GB M.2 drive paired with the 4 TB SSD or a larger single drive?

This unit ships with a dual-storage layout of a 256 GB M.2 drive plus a 4 TB SSD giving both fast boot space and high-capacity storage in one machine.

What does the 4.80 GHz turbo figure mean for everyday workloads on the i9-8950HK?

The six-core processor can reach 4.80 GHz under thermal headroom so heavy single-thread tasks such as CAD or compile bursts run at peak speed before the dual-fan cooling steadies clocks.
