14.0" FHD Ultrabook for business professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 or T490 ultrabook ships new with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed. It runs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8550U quad-core processor at 1.8GHz with 32GB DDR4 memory. The 14.0" IPS panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles display output. A 256GB SSD provides storage.

Check ports and charger before ordering

The unit includes an OEM 45W or 65W AC adapter. Connectivity offers three USB 3.1 ports, one USB-C port, HDMI and RJ-45 Ethernet. Wireless uses Intel Dual Band with Bluetooth 4.1. A front-facing webcam is fitted. SD or MicroSD card readers and fingerprint readers are optional and may be absent. The non-touch FHD screen is fixed.

Replaces older dual-core ultrabooks

Moving from a dual-core machine to this quad-core i7 with 32GB RAM lifts multi-tasking headroom for office suites, browser loads and video calls. The 256GB SSD is sufficient for OS and core apps; users storing large media libraries will need external or cloud space. Integrated graphics limit 3D work, so buyers needing discrete GPU performance should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the 256 GB SSD leave room for a second drive, or must I buy external storage?

The unit ships with a single 256 GB SSD. No second internal drive is mentioned, so additional capacity would need an external device.

Should I pick the 32 GB RAM version or a lower capacity for typical office work?

32 GB DDR4 handles heavy multitasking and virtual machines comfortably; 8 GB or 16 GB variants exist if your workload is lighter.

Will the i7-8550U at 1.8 GHz with Intel UHD 620 graphics drive two external 1080p monitors?

The HDMI port and USB-C video output support dual 1920 x 1080 displays; the integrated Intel UHD 620 handles office and video playback across both screens.
