Rugged 14 for Field Work

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a 14.0 inch fully rugged notebook built to military-grade durability standards. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory. The 10-point touchscreen supports glove input for outdoor use.

Suits Mobile Professionals Not Desk Users

This unit suits field engineers, surveyors and first responders who need a daylight-readable FHD display and sealed chassis. It is not for buyers who want a thin ultraportable, a discrete GPU for rendering or a consumer-grade hinge design.

Dual M.2 SSD Configuration

Storage combines a 512 GB M.2 drive with a 2 TB M.2 drive, both solid-state, giving a single-volume layout for the operating system and a large secondary volume for project data.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512GB M.2 drive or the 2TB M.2 drive for my main workload?

Both drives are installed together; the 512GB unit typically holds the operating system and applications while the 2TB unit stores large project files and backups.

What does the i7-8650U hitting 4.20 GHz actually deliver in daily use?

The quad-core processor with 8MB cache reaches 4.20 GHz on short bursts, giving snappy response for office suites, web apps and light creative tasks while staying cool in the rugged chassis.

Which USB standard caps the transfer speed on the USB 3.0 ports?

USB 3.0 limits the theoretical maximum to 5 Gbps; real-world throughput depends on the attached drive and cable quality.
