Secure Portable Storage

The iStorage diskAshur2 is a 5TB portable hard drive that protects data with a hardware keypad and AES-XTS 256-bit encryption. No software installation is required, so the drive works immediately on any device with a USB port. The rugged chassis carries IP56 dust and splash resistance for field use.

Compliance-Focused Users

This drive suits professionals who must meet GDPR, CCPA or HIPAA requirements and need a software-free, platform-independent solution. It is not for buyers who want the highest sequential throughput for large media libraries or who need a drive without a physical keypad.

Sustained Transfer Behaviour

Real-world throughput reaches up to 160MB/s read and 143MB/s write over the USB 3.1 interface during extended transfers. The hardware encryption engine operates in real time without throttling the controller, so performance remains consistent across long copy operations.

Questions about this item

Does the diskAshur2 need any software installed on my Windows, macOS or Linux computer before I can unlock it with the PIN?

No software is required; the drive works on any device with a USB port and authenticates entirely via the built-in keypad.

Will the drive still reach its quoted 160 MB/s read and 143 MB/s write speeds when I connect it to my older USB 3.1 port?

The USB 3.2 interface is backwards compatible, so it will operate at the maximum speed supported by your USB 3.1 port.

How can I confirm the AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption is active after I set my PIN?

When the drive is disconnected it automatically locks and all data is encrypted; reconnecting requires the PIN before any files are visible.
