Secure portable storage

The iStorage diskAshur2 IS-DA2-256-1000-B is a 1TB portable hard drive with a built-in keypad for PIN authentication. It uses real-time AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption validated to FIPS PUB 197 and a Common Criteria EAL4+ ready microprocessor. The drive is IP56 certified for dust and splash resistance and requires no software installation. It suits professionals who must protect sensitive data on the move.

Check your ports and power

The drive connects through a USB 3.1 interface and is backwards compatible with USB 3.2 for speeds up to 160MB/s read and 143MB/s write. Verify that your device supplies enough bus power for a 2.5-inch mechanical drive. The drive works with MS Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome, Android, Thin Clients, Zero Clients and embedded systems without drivers. A USB port is the only host requirement.

Fits in a bag and a compliance plan

At 0.75 by 4.88 by 3.31 inches and 0.48 lb, the Phantom Black unit slips into the supplied protective carry case. Hardware encryption frees the host CPU from cryptographic overhead and leaves no software footprint on the system. The keypad unlocks the drive before the OS sees it, so the volume mounts as a standard block device. It helps meet GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA obligations without extra configuration.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the 1TB diskAshur2 and do I need a separate cable?

The box contains the portable drive, a protective carry case and a quick start guide. The drive connects via its built-in USB 3.1 interface so no extra cable is required.

How do I choose between the available capacities for the diskAshur2 series?

This listing is the 1TB model (MPN IS-DA2-256-1000-B). Select the capacity that matches the amount of data you need to protect; the encryption and rugged features are identical across sizes.

What do the 160MB/s read and 143MB/s write figures mean when I use the drive on my laptop?

They are the maximum sequential transfer rates over USB 3.2. Real-world speeds depend on your laptop's USB port, file sizes and system load, but the hardware encryption adds no software overhead.
